"Modest, yet not shabby; splendid, yet not extravagant."
Near Cheonan Asan Station, commercial buildings compete loudly for landmark status, blurring together into a forest of glass towers rather than standing out. In response, the Chungnam International Convention Center takes the opposite approach—an achromatic, near-white skin that gains presence through restraint.
The plan adds 11,000㎡ to the existing 9,000㎡ exhibition hall for a total of 20,000㎡, anchoring the R&D cluster near Cheonan-Asan KTX Station. Five ground-floor halls, built on a modular 9m grid, can be used independently or combined into one large exhibition space—each retaining its own entrance, concourse, and loading dock—offering a flexible, low-contact convention format suited to the post-pandemic era.
The main façade is a double-skin system with perforated aluminum louvers that control sunlight and shape the concourse atmosphere, while a sawtooth roof integrates a BIPV solar system and carries the same geometry down into the façade as a unifying design element.
