Gadeokdo New Airport International Passenger Terminal – International Design Competition

The Spirit of Busan: Portraying Mountain, Sea, and City
Just as Busan is a city that connects sea and mountain, the airport that first welcomes visitors to it should carry that same spirit. In keeping with Busan's history as a major port city, the design reflects the natural beauty of a captivating landscape—like moonlight reflected on calm waves—shaping a more functional and efficient hub. Water, a fundamental element of all living things, along with its endless flow, rhythm, and sense of movement, becomes the inspiration for the architectural form. To ensure fast and safe airport construction, the proposal considers contemporary values and the characteristics of the project site, presenting a passenger terminal built around four goals: Intelligent, Green, Iconic, and Value.
