Sewoon Sangga Complex Public Space (Phase 2)

This urban regeneration project aims to improve the fragmented pedestrian network of the Sewoon Sangga complex and to establish a multi-level pedestrian network extending from Euljiro to Toegyero and Namsan. The project covers the area around Sampoong Sangga, Hotel PJ, Inhyeon Sangga, and Jinyang Sangga, and includes the construction and upgrading of pedestrian decks, elevated pedestrian bridges, and underground connecting passages. Because construction will proceed while the existing shops and surrounding urban functions remain in operation, a meticulous management plan is required. In particular, since the work involves aging commercial buildings and existing pedestrian decks, safety inspections of the existing structures must be carried out first to accurately determine their current condition, and the detailed design of the connections between existing and new structures and infrastructure must be verified in advance. At the same time, construction operation measures must be established that ensure the safety of merchants and pedestrians, minimize business losses, and maintain construction efficiency. Furthermore, because private development and other urban regeneration projects are underway nearby, comprehensive project management that encompasses these neighboring projects is required. This includes continuous consultation with relevant agencies and project owners, coordination of interfaces between projects, and the setting of milestones linked to key construction activities.
